| "I greatly appreciated the patience and
care you took in finding a design solution that matched my
brief and for managing the project through to an excellent
result. I am really looking forward to spring and summer to
see the planting in its full and colourful glory." |
The garden gets very little sun and the lawn was unsuccessful, so it
was decided that the garden should be hard landscaped. The client wanted
the garden to feel more spacious, and colourful, with a 'wow' factor
to match the inside of the house, and bold foliage planting.
To achieve the feeling of space, a c-shaped path was constructed using
beautiful green slate mixed with black limestone edging, which opens
up the garden and allows you to walk 'around' it. In the centre of
the circle a tree fern has been planted as a bold focal point, which
encourages you to view it from all sides. Plum slate chippings have
been laid on the beds as a contrast to the slate paving, and to create
more permanent colour in the garden. The planting is predominantly
shade planting such as ferns, hostas, and climbing hydrangeas, with
some splashes of colour provided by ruby red imperata grass, purple
heucheras, and black lilyturf grass. |
