"We are totally thrilled with the transformation in the garden - it's like having a new room to the house. You interpreted our brief with great vision, and the finished design is exactly as we hoped."

The brief was to create something very modern, stylish and comfortable; with the feel of an extra room. The design had to include lots of seating in both the sun and shade; and plenty of space for entertaining and eating outside. They were very clear that they wanted no lawn, but to still have a green feel with seasonal colour and scent, especially in the evenings.

The intention of the design was to give the garden a wider more spacious feel by dividing it up into two separate seating areas; broken up by the horizontal line of the step and wall. The first seating area is an inviting 'room' with pale sawn sandstone; all weather sofas and armchairs and evergreen box balls in large containers, with the scent of pink lavender, from the raised bed, wafting over. The second area has curved rendered walls; built in rendered seats; hardwood decking and lots of colourful and scented planting throughout the year, including amongst others; white aquilegias; pink and white dicentras; purple cow parsley; regal lilies; evergreen jasmine; orange euphorbias; pink Japanese anemones and lilac meadow rue.
