"The garden looks wonderful and it has totally fulfilled my brief and we have all enjoyed relaxing in it."
The brief was to create an unusual and stunning garden for an Arts and Crafts house, with an angled modern kitchen extension & asymmetrical windows looking out onto the garden.  The client wanted to reflect the shapes of the house and create a focal point framed by windows.   Clean lines & simplicity were key to the design, and it was important to incorporate separate areas for seating and dining. The garden was to be a deliberate clash of Victorian and modern styles, incorporating Victorian pots and and an antique panel with very modern elements such as a water feature and metal planters.  The design uses shapes such as spheres, triangles and rectangles and repeats them throughout the garden, both with the features, and the plants, such as spherical allium flowerheads, box balls and mophead hydrangeas. The remainder of the planting is soft & airy planting, as well as lavenders, climbing roses, and scented jasmine which will eventually clothe all the fences.  Colour is very important, a mixture of purples and lime greens, with splashes of white and pinks, with lots of greens to ensure the garden looks good all year.
