Pretty Walk to the Gym

Surbiton

Construction to start March 2026

A long garden with a woodland area to the rear and a recently laid sandstone terrace with central steps down to the lawn, with tiered sleeper beds to either side. The back of the house faces south west with full sun falling to the right hand side and evening sun on the terrace.

A gym is to be installed at the end of the garden and the clients requested a pretty walk to it via direct path or paths with an abundance of purple, white and blue flowers to enjoy along the way. They especially wanted white hydrangeas, lavenders, and olives along with other long flowering companion plants we recommended such as agapanthus, sedums, anemones, campanula, and gaura to give seasonal interests throught the summer and autumn.

The existing raised beds are full of small evergreen shrubs and evergreen perennials with pretty metal frames clothed in evergreen fragrant jasmine to disrupt the view down the long garden with purple alliums bursting through for spring interest.

To break up the length of the garden we have created two separate lawns with soft gravel paths to either side linked in the middle with a small seating space with groundcover planting such as catmint and daisies tumbling over the paving planks and a large bed of pure white hydrangeas underplanted with purple geraniums and soft grasses to edge.
